NSE February Newsletter 2019
Greetings North Star Families,
Recently we had our 5th graders create a map for their future. We not only wanted them to think about what they want to do when they grow up but also how they might get there. We wanted our students to understand that their lives are full of choices. The choices they make at each step of the way influence their options for the future. As you can see from the maps below, North Star students have lots of ideas about what they want to do in the future. You can help your child plan for the future by having frequent conversations with them about the choices they are making. Do they want to go to Northglenn Middle, Thornton Middle or STEM? Are they getting all their assignments done? Are they hanging around friends who will help them make good choices? By frequently engaging in conversations about their future, you will help them create a map for success.
Thanks to all our parents who attended our 2nd grade Parent Night on January 24th. Students who attended won $5-$10 worth of books from the Scholastic Book Club who partners with Book Trust, a local non-profit organization that provides all North Star students with $7 of books each month. Our next parent night is on March 7th with 1st and 5th grades.
Parent conferences are coming up on Tuesday, February 12th and Wednesday, February 13th. Please be on the lookout for a sign-up sheet from your child. Attending your child’s conference will help you better support your child’s map for success!
